Uppingham is renowned for its music offering to pupils. For any pupil with a passion or interest in music, in any form – whether classical or jazz or hip hop, for example – we offer boundless inspiration, opportunity and encouragement.

We celebrate and support individual excellence and mass participation that all cater to the musical ambitions and abilities of all pupils.

Uppingham School has a long history of association with music-making pioneers, with pupils today offered visits by world-class performers who support our music education.

Everyone who plays an instrument is encouraged to take part in group music-making, whether that be an ensemble or a wind quintet, for example.

Pupils have a range of performance opportunities at all levels, from lunchtime concerts to recitals in school.

We challenge pupils to develop independence and self-discipline, to explore their own artistic identities. We nurture and develop talented individuals to support their ambitions as they pursue music.
